BPM Heroes: Madam C.J. Walker: Celebrating a Beauty Empire Builder

Madam C.J. Walker's legacy is a testament to the resilience and determination of Black women in business. With just $1.50, she built a multimillion-dollar haircare empire and employed a sales force of over 20,000 women, providing them with the training and support needed to succeed. Madam Walker's success as a businesswoman was matched by her philanthropic efforts, which supported various causes and organizations, including the YMCA and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Madam Walker's impact is still felt today, inspiring countless Black entrepreneurs and business leaders. In 2020, Netflix released "Self Made," a series that tells her story and highlights her significant contributions to the beauty industry.

As we celebrate International Women's Day, we honor Madam C.J. Walker's achievements and her lasting impact on women in business.
